The nearly 70,000 sm retail component of Metropol Istanbul (currently under construction) has been designed by RHI Studio. As a collaborative consultancy, RHI contracted Mormile Creative to develop a conceptual design package to brand the retail environments. The concept includes Project Identity & Wayfinding signage, two-dimensional paving & applied vinyl graphics as well as various multimedia components.
In order to distinguish the high energy shopping center from the more formal residential & office space of the 5 massive high-rise buildings (the central tower, one of the tallest in Europe), a unique logo and visual language was created and implemented throughout the concept.
The conceptual challenge was to capture the energy of a world class retail experience and blend it with a sculptural quality worthy of a gallery like the future Metropol tenant, Istanbul Modern.
